Art direction

Our imagery heroes our players and celebrates our passionate community.

This is a key way we can show our personality, be that at our shows or on a shoot.

Studio photography

Studio photography is a great opportunity to capture our players’ distinct personalities. Follow these principles to create photographs that show our players looking cool AF.

  • Always photograph from a lower perspective to give players more presence.
  • Encourage a variety of emotions and poses that celebrate the individual personality of the players.
  • Use lighting gels to light up the players with our core and accent brand colours.
  • Use directional lighting to ensure a strong contrast in highlights and shadows.
  • Celebrate the teams by making sure their uniform is clearly identifiable.

Event photography

Players and fans

At events we get the camera amongst the action, photographing players and fans through the highs and lows. We capture the suspense and drama when the teams and fans come together as one.

  • Images should be real captured moments, never forced or staged.
  • Highlight the experience of both the fans and players by photographing from their different perspectives.
  • Shoot from within the action, from first person perspective, giving you the sense of being there.
  • Celebrate the interactions between players, fans, and the relationship between the two.
  • Make best use of the lighting within the stadium, avoiding shots that are too dark or flat.

Context

As well as showing the players and fans at our events, it is important to celebrate the scale and drama of the event as a whole.

  • Photograph from interesting wide angles, emphasising the sheer scale of the event.
  • Capture the atmosphere of events by photographing key moments when the arena is full and the fans are engaged.
  • Make best use of the lighting within the stadium, avoiding shots that are too dark or flat.

Photography treatment

We can treat photography with colour tones from our core and accent palette to make them more harmonious with other elements in our identity. This is used when we need to place typography over the top of imagery.

Follow this process to treat images:

Step 1

Adjust curves so the image is bright with good contrast.

Step 2

Add a Colour Fill layer using either LEC Black, Orange or Teal.

Set the opacity to 100% ‘Colour’.

Step 3

Add another Colour Fill layer of the same colour.

Set the opacity to 50% ‘Normal’.

Step 4

Add content

Step 5

Add top flare layer as with all other applications.

See Flare section for details.
