Typography

Typography plays an important role in our graphic system. Our typefaces are bold and flexible, adding to the dynamism of our brand.

Our typefaces

Our headline typefaces are all part of the Druk family. We can use Druk Medium and Druk Wide Medium or our custom character set; Druk LEC.

Druk

Our standard headline typeface, Druk, is bold and attitudinal. Having both wide and condensed weights means the type can flex to fill any space – creating dynamic layouts whatever the format.

We also have the option of using outlined type to create hierarchy.

Druk Medium

Druk Medium Wide

Druk LEC

To ensure the dynamism of our graphic language lives throughout the brand, we have a custom character set that embodies the energy in our sport.

The LEC typeface should only be used sparingly on select words for emphasis.

Gattica

Gattica is our legible workhorse font for body copy. We use three weights; light, medium and extra bold.

Using type

Headlines

We create impactful typographic compositions by pairing contrasting type sizes and widths. Mixing type size and weight means our copy can fill whatever space it’s in, regardless of line length.

Headlines in layouts

We use our headline type confidently to celebrate the teams, players and champions. Where we can, we utilise the full height or width of the page.

Landscape formats
Applying a headline to the full width of the page.

Portrait formats
Rotating a headline to fit the full height of the page.

Body text

We use Gattica Extra Bold for sub-headers and Light for body text.

Typography example use

Typography misuse

To keep our typography feeling recognisably us, we avoid the following:

Don’t rotate type at angles other than horizontal and vertical

Don’t squash type

Don’t use headlines in lowercase

Don’t use Druk for body copy

Don’t use Gattica for headlines

Don’t stretch type

Do not use spacing that makes the type illegible

Don’t mix typeface weights and sizes within one line of type
